Peace Arch Hospice in White Rock has developed and presented a thorough proposal for the creation of a new hospice. SOSJ is currently in negotiations with Peace Arch Hospice to provide support for this initiative.
SOSJ is in the process of developing a Best Practice Manual for Hospice Development by leveraging its combined expertise for small organizations to use in planning and implementation of future initiatives.

4-rooms (one on each floor) within this 199-bed long-term-care facility have been fully renovated to create a warm, welcoming, and non-institutional feel for those nearing end-of-life and their loved-ones. Renovations have converted these rooms to a home-like environment. Each room has signage indicating SOSJ sponsorship. A formal dedication ceremony is scheduled for early in 2018.
The Bloom Group Cottage is a long-term-care facility, including a 10-bed hospice, located in East Vancouver. The goal of the project is to paint and refresh 10 hospice rooms and en suite bathrooms.
SOSJ partnered with government agencies in the development of a 14-bed stand-alone facility on the UBC Campus. The facility is currently being operated by Providence Health Care of Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.
SOSJ provided advocacy in the development of Abbotsford Hospice Society’s Holmberg House, a 10-bed facility, co-located within the innovative Abbotsford Campus of Palliative Care including Canuck Place, Matthew’s Place, and Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
