Early in its planning phase, the Prince George Hospice Society has entered into discussion with SOSJ regarding support of hospice services to the Prince George community.
SOSJ has a mission which complements the responsibility of UBC in the lifetime education of healthcare professionals by funding the development of a strong palliative care department at UBC. Recruiting an international leader in this field will attract global attention and demonstrate the responsiveness and reputation of UBC to this important discipline. SOSJ’s enhanced partnership with UBC will lay the foundation for the creation of a national Center of Excellence in Palliative Care.
Peace Arch Hospice in White Rock has developed and presented a thorough proposal for the creation of a new hospice. SOSJ is currently in negotiations with Peace Arch Hospice to provide support for this initiative.
SOSJ is in the process of developing a Best Practice Manual for Hospice Development by leveraging its combined expertise for small organizations to use in planning and implementation of future initiatives.
Education and training for professionals, families, and volunteers.
Initial request for support from Providence Health Care (PHC). Details forthcoming at the next Almoner Committee meeting.
